“Sustaining Economic Momentum” is the theme of RES (Reservation Economic Summit) California, hosted by the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (NCAIED) at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California, June 17-19. The event will kick-off with a golf tournament at Pechanga’s beautiful, award-winning Journey Golf Resort.

Indian tribes to discuss their involvement in online gambling
According to the RES agenda, there will be a track entitled – Ready, Set, Go!…. Is Your Tribe Prepared for Online Gaming?
The gaming industry grows closer each day to forever being changed by the implementation of Internet gaming; and those changes will impact Tribes throughout the United States. In the State of California, Tribes are now working together to pass legislation that would allow online gambling; specifically online poker.
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe in Connecticut has already secured an Internet gaming partner and so has the Winnemucca Indian Colony of Shoshoni in Nevada. With legislation looming in several states, what will it all mean when online gaming comes to your state and what will it mean to your Tribe? This panel will help bring you up to speed on new developments as well as regulatory structures and their unique provisions for online Tribal gaming operations. Our panel will discuss sovereignty, taxation, and the economic benefits of online gaming for Indian Country. Our panelists will also discuss preparations your Tribe needs to make now including, finding the right software partner and specifics around marketing your online gaming platform.
RES California is part of the expansion of the NCAIED’s highly successful National Reservation Economic Summit (National RES). Next year’s annual National RES will be held March 17-20, 2014 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
While this event is expected to have a great turnout, it should also help to further some of the topics that have been in the works recently. When this event is held it acts as a way to celebrate what has become and a way to discuss what should be.
This event is where everyone gets together and discusses all the various topics which will prove to be beneficial and of importance to the reservations economics.
