The NBA Draft will be held on Wednesday night as the offseason has gotten off to a crazy start. The NBA draft odds are showing that it is a three-man race for the top pick. There are two players starting to distance themselves ahead of the actual draft.

The draft was supposed to be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, but obviously, COVID-19 put a stop to that. Instead, the draft will go on from ESPN’s studios in Bristol, Connecticut. Like much of the rest of the world, the actual draft will be done by videoconferencing. The show begins at 7:00 PM ET on ESPN.

Who Are The NBA Draft Odds Favorites?

LaMelo Ball

Ball leads the NBA draft odds for the first overall pick at -140 after choosing to play a year in Australia over going to college in the United States. He is a 6’7” point guard with outstanding passing skills, similar to his brother, Lonzo Ball of the New Orleans Pelicans.

Anthony Edwards

Edwards comes in at -110 after averaging 19.1 points at Georgia. Edwards is also a guard at 6’5”, but he is considered more of a score-first lead guard in the mold of Donovan Mitchell of Utah.

James Wiseman

Wiseman trails at +650, and he played only three games at Memphis as the NCAA took away his eligibility for accepting money from coach Penny Hardaway (who wasn’t coach at the time) to move. Wiseman, a 7’1” center, put up 19.7 points and 10.3 rebounds in his three games.

Who Has The Picks?

The top three picks are going to Minnesota, Golden State and Charlotte, assuming they don’t get traded prior to the draft. The Timberwolves and Hornets seem likely to keep their picks. However, the Warriors are the wild card with the second pick. Golden State had gone to the NBA Finals five straight years, winning three of them, prior to last season.

However, Klay Thompson injured his knee in the Finals loss to Toronto. Then, former MVP Stephen Curry was hurt early in the next regular season. So, the Warriors tanked. They traded Russell (who came to Golden State in the Kevin Durant deal with Brooklyn) to Minnesota for Andrew Wiggins in February. Now, they have Curry and Thompson back, along with Draymond Green. The Warriors are a win-now team. However, as of Tuesday afternoon, they were still holding onto their pick in hopes they can package it for a top-quality player.

What NBA Draft Odds Can You Bet On?

Well, there is a drop-off after the top three. Deni Avdija, from Israel, and Dayton’s Obi Toppin are next in the first overall pick odds at +8000. At Bovada, you can bet on who the second overall pick will be (Wiseman leads the way at EVEN odds), and who will go next (Edwards leads that at +200, just slightly over Wiseman at +230). You can also bet on who will go fourth, and Avdija, the 2020 Israeli League MVP, is favored there at +150 over Toppin at +300. Finally, you can bet on the exact order of the top four picks. Ball-Wiseman-Edwards-Avdija is favored at +350. Next, at +600, is the same, but with Edwards going first instead of Ball.

But that’s not all. You can also wager on the NBA draft odds of various players and the position which they’ll go. For example, the over/under of Edwards’ draft position is 1.5. The over is favored at -170 with under coming back at +130. You can do this for a number of players at Bovada, and you can also do this for the number of players drafted from a certain NCAA conference, or the number of international players drafted in the top 10, and much more. NBA draft odds are extremely popular now. It can spice things up a little for what is normally a straightforward process. However, 2020 has been anything but straightforward.
