Just weeks after holding the first online event in tour history, the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOP-C) will award a second gold ring through WSOP.com in New Jersey.

Scheduled for Sunday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m. local time, the $365 buy-in No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament will present players throughout the Garden State with a golden opportunity.

It was only last month that veteran pro Anthony “casedismised” Spinella claimed the first WSOP-C ring ever awarded online, along with $35,817 in prize money.

Held in conjunction with the tour’s Las Vegas stop at the Rio in late February, the WSOP-C held the same $365 tourney on the Nevada-based WSOP.com platform. Spinella emerged victorious after battling through a 256-player field, which combined with 164 rebuys to create a total prize pool of $137,760.

In an interesting coincidence, Spinella also took down the first ever online event held during the WSOP proper, scoring his first gold bracelet and nearly $200,000 in winnings.

And while he’s a touring pro, Spinella calls North Carolina home, so he’s likely to make the trip northbound to try for a historic three-peat.

Bill Rini, who serves as head of online poker for WSOP.com, spoke with Online Poker Report to discuss how Nevada’s successful debut inspired a second online ring event:

“We had a lot of players asking us about a ring event in New Jersey the moment we announced the Nevada ring event, so we hope we’ll see some good numbers for this event.”

In an interview with US Poker held just after the inaugural online ring event concluded, Rini pointed to the tournament’s field size relative to the Rio’s live schedule:

“We felt it [the tournament] performed very well.

If you look at live circuit events at the Rio, the online ring event was at the top end of those events in terms of attendance for a mid-week tournament.”

Rini also spoke to US Poker about the popularity of online bracelet events, which have been held annually since 2015, providing a natural bridge to bringing the WSOP-C to WSOP.com:

“We’ve been running online bracelet events during the summer so we knew there was demand for cross-over online tournaments.

We also see a lot of satellite interest going from online to live circuit events whenever we run them.

It was really just a matter of offering something that the players wanted.”

Players who are physically located anywhere in New Jersey are eligible to enter the upcoming ring event.

Satellites beginning with buy-ins as low as $5 have been running around the clock since March 4. By making a deposit before March 16, and entering the bonus code “ACRING,” players are automatically entered into a random drawing with three possible prizes.

First, players can score the full $365 entry straight away. Next up is a $5 satellite entry, followed by a ticket to a special freeroll which will put one player through to the ring event.

The latest WSOP-C stop in Atlantic City began at Harrah’s Resort on March 8 and culminates with a $1,675 live No Limit Texas Hold’em Main Event on March 16.
