Most gamblers who envision themselves winning a life-changing online slots jackpot begin their dreams by quitting work, but Sean Doyle had other ideas.
After the 33-year old chef from County Down in Northern Ireland pocketed £4,283,863 playing online slots on Irish online casino Paddy Power, Doyle decided to show up and cook for hungry dinner date diners celebrating Valentine’s Day.
Doyle found himself playing the “Mars Attacks!” slot game on February 13 when his £8.50 spin turned into a seven-figure score.
As he told the Irish Mirror in the wake of the massive jackpot – which can be seen playing out in a video clip – Doyle didn’t even wait to see exactly how much money his momentous spin was worth:
“I watched it until it reached about €1.14 million on the count thing and I switched off my phone.
I couldn’t look.
When I got home, I couldn’t believe my eyes after I saw the final amount!”
Asked about his plans for the unexpected and unbelievable windfall, Doyle pledged to share his newfound wealth with the people most important to him:
“You wouldn’t believe the amount of people’s lives I’m going to change with this win.
My sister is a single parent in New Zealand with three kids so I’m delighted because this means I will be able to help her out. I also have three brothers, my parents and a few aunts and uncles too.
I might set up my own shop, probably a café, which would mean I can down scale and relax more.”
In a typically cheeky press release issued by the Irish gaming titan, Paddy Power penned a poem in tribute of Doyle’s dance with Lady Luck on the eve of Valentine’s Day:
“Roses are red, violets are blue, we found out Sean is single, so get in the queue!
We’re used to being down a few quid after Valentine’s Day, but this record-breaking win takes the biscuit.”
Mike Phelan – who serves as commercial director of Paddy Power Gaming – followed up by congratulating Doyle on conquering the coveted Jackpot King Deluxe top prize:
“This sums up why Blueprint Gaming’s progressive jackpot system is a key component of our games offering.
Jackpot King allows our players to win staggering amounts of money at the spin of a reel, while also raising excitement levels and delivering increased revenues.
We’re thrilled that Sean has walked away with the jackpot and hope he has as much fun spending the prize as he did playing the game!”
The jackpot of just under £4.3 million represents a record-setting payout for Paddy Power’s online casino platform.
The largest online slots jackpot ever won, as recognized by the Guinness Book of Records, was awarded by Microgaming’s “Mega Moolah” game in September of last year.
The multimillion-dollar progressive jackpot paid by Paddy Power was produced by the Jackpot King Deluxe system, which was introduced by U.K.-based iGaming designer Blueprint Gaming last year.
While playing the “Mars Attacks!” base slot game, Doyle found five Jackpot King symbols onscreen to trigger a bonus game. From there, he spun his way to collecting 15 gold crowns, activating yet another Wheel King bonus game in the process.
Next up, Doyle watched as a random prize wheel spun several times, with payouts ranging from 25x to 1,000x his original bet. In addition, the Jackpot King Deluxe system offered two smaller progressive amounts along with the larger Jackpot King – the Royal Pot for £882 and the Regal Pot for £24,119.
Both the Royal and Regal jackpots are of the “must be won by” variety, meaning they will always be hit before reaching totals of £3,500 and £35,000, respectively.
Luckily for Doyle, the prize wheel came to rest perfectly on the Jackpot King space, triggering the astounding winner.
Jo Purvis – director of marketing and relationships for Blueprint Gaming – congratulated Doyle in a press release:
“Congratulations to Sean and what an amazing start to the year to win such a life-changing sum of money.
It’s great to hear that Sean will not only be spending the prize money on himself but with his friends and family too.
Our Jackpot King Deluxe series continues to offer an exciting layer to our games where players can dream to win big. We look forward to adding new games to our progressive system throughout 2019.”
