PartyPoker MILLIONS on Pace to Set Record

With the first of five Day 1 starting flights in the books, the PartyPoker MILLIONS Online Main Event is well on its way to becoming the largest online poker tournament in history.

Day 1A took place on Sunday, drawing 1,332 unique entries and 242 reentries at $5,300 apiece to generate a prize pool of $7,870,000. The massive turnout easily puts PartyPoker’s premier tournament on pace to eclipse the guaranteed prize pool of $20 million.

Seven Days of PartyPoker MILLIONS Online Action Set to Break Record

If the numbers from Day 1A hold up across the seven-day schedule – which can be reviewed in full below – the PartyPoker MILLIONS Online should double the advertised guarantee:

PartyPoker MILLIONS Online Main Event Schedule

Date Time (CET) Flight
Sunday, November 25 8:00 p.m. Day 1A
Thursday, November 29 8:00 p.m. Day 1B
Sunday, December 2 8:00 p.m. Day 1C
Monday, December 3 8:00 p.m. Day 1D
Tuesday, December 4 12:00 p.m. Day 1E (Turbo)
Tuesday, December 4 8:00 p.m. Day 2
Wednesday, December 5 8:00 p.m. Final Day

Based on the $20 million guarantee, the top four finishers will each pocket payouts of at least $1 million, while the eventual champion will earn $2.5 million.

The top stack after Day 1A concluded belongs to Philipp “Phil_Gruissem” Gruissem (26,865,379), a sponsored pro who plays as part of Team PartyPoker. Gruissem has a significant lead over the second-place stack (24,126,018) of Finnish player “hi_all.”

Other contenders for the PartyPoker MILLIONS Online crown include all-time online poker tournament earnings leader Chris “Therealmoorm” Moorman (15,374,484) and former phenom from the nosebleed stakes cash games Viktor “Isildur1” Blom (6,303,392).

The inaugural PartyPoker MILLIONS Online Main Event took place in December of 2017, slightly topping the $5,000,000 guarantee.

The 2018 edition is already well past that plateau, and more than halfway toward beating out the previous record for largest prize pool – $12,215,000 set by the 2010 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) $5,200 Main Event.

Following the successful debut, PartyPoker managing director Tom Waters issued a statement pledging to make this year’s version a record-setter:

“Running the first MILLIONS Online this year was an exciting time for us, bringing the concept of our live tour online.

The feedback we had from our players was overwhelming, so what better way to say thank you than to run it again but this time making the guarantee a whopping $20,000,000.”

John Duthie – a former pro who now serves as president of PartyPoker LIVE – added his own statement calling for a historic second round:

“I love the concept of a MILLIONS leg on PartyPoker, it gives us the opportunity to bring together our MILLIONS players from all over the world at the end of the year to compete for an unprecedented prize pool.

I was a little nervous about trying this concept out, but players supported us this time so we should return the favor and go for a record-breaking online prize pool in 2018.”
