PartyPoker’s PowerFest Series Offers $40 Million in Guaranteed Prizes
Tournament poker players worldwide will have a month to remember, as PartyPoker plays host to the latest edition of its massive PowerFest series by putting $40 million up for grabs.
The action kicked off May 6 with the first 30 tournaments of a sprawling 366-event schedule. PowerFest will conclude on May 20, but not before eight figures in guaranteed prize pools have been awarded.
The schedule is divided into four main tiers based on buy-in level: Micro (Mi), Low (L), Medium (M), and High (H).
Entry fees for the 78 Micro events range from $1.10 to $3.30, and these tournaments will put $263,500 in guarantees on the line.
The Low section covers 78 events priced between $5.50 and $16.50, with $1,217,000 in guarantees on the table.
Medium tournaments cost between $27.50 and $55, and these events have $4,190,000 in guarantees attached.
The High end of the schedule covers buy-ins from $109 to $215, and $9,800,000 in guarantees will be distributed.
The other $25 million or so in guarantees will be generated by 58 more High Roller (HR) and Super High Roller (SHR) events, with buy-ins spanning the spectrum from $530 to $25,500.
In a post published to the PartyPoker Blog, site Ambassador and high-stakes pro Jason Koon commented on the audacious nature of the guarantees:
“I don’t know who keeps coming up with these insane guarantees but it sure is a great time to be playing with partypoker.
I’ve seen the schedule and I can’t wait for players to see it too, it’s definitely the best one yet.”
That official schedule has been released, and among the highlights are 17 different Championship events. These prestigious tournaments are priced between $2.20 and $25,500, so players of all bankroll levels can compete for a PartyPoker PowerFest Championship – and a trophy to go along with the money.
Winners of any Championship event will receive a special trophy sent straight to their home to commemorate the achievement.
Partypoker Ambassador Patrick Leonard also took to the site’s Blog to talk about the glory to be gained during PowerFest:
“I’ve been more heavily involved in this POWERFEST scheduling than ever before. There is a lot of consistent logic throughout giving the most varied, exciting and fun POWERFEST schedule since partypoker’s resurrection a few years ago.
There are more 6-Max events, more PLO, more high rollers but also buy-ins for all bankrolls and most importantly lots of chances of glory.”
As Leonard alluded to, the PowerFest schedule was carefully calibrated for appeal across the poker economy. Along with hundreds of traditional No Limit Texas Hold’em tournaments, players can take part in dozens of Pot Limit Omaha events. In addition, the Hold’em schedule features several specialty events such as Progressive Knockout (PKO) – a game which awards escalating bounties to whomever eliminates an opponent.
Over the two-week schedule, 13 different Championship events will pay out at least $1 million in guarantees – including three tournaments held on Sunday, May 10. Event #43-HR is a $530 buy-in PKO, Event #44-HR costs $1,050, and Event #42-SHR requires $5,200 to enter.
More affordable Championship events take place Sunday, May 20, beginning with Event #83-H, a $215 buy-in PKO featuring $500,000 in guarantees. Event #83 is also priced at $55 (M), $11 (L), and $2.20 (Mi), with respective guarantees of $200,000, $50,000, and $10,000.
On the PartyPoker Blog, site Ambassador Sam Trickett wrote about the site’s ongoing commitment to players through enormous series like PowerFest:
“Ahead of a €23,000,000 guaranteed MILLIONS Grand Final, partypoker announce the $40,000,000 POWERFEST.
These guarantees both live and online are huge, and I can’t wait to play every day of both!
With this being the largest POWERFEST on partypoker I am proud to be associated with a company who just keep making things bigger and better for the players.”
