A Fresh Take on This Greek Myth with a Stunning Design
WMS have a lot of slots based on Greek mythology. Among them are the popular Zeus range, plus the impressive new Kronos slots. This one takes the legendary half-man, half-horse creature known as the Centaur – and puts it into slot form.
You’ll find a fresh way to generate free spins, and stacked Centaur symbols on the reels to give you big-win potential.
Here is a guide to the key features of the Centaur slots:

In part, you’ll use the 3 bonus symbols to trigger the free spins bonus. These are giant shields, which appear on reels 1, 3 and 5. There is a difference from many slots, with numbers on the shields. On reels 1 and 3, the numbers add extra free spins (to the default 7). The number on the reel 5 shield is even more important – this adds a multiplier, which applies to all your wins during the bonus feature.
You’ll see an impressive red forest scene behind the reels and the entire rectangle turns around. The bonus reels play in much the same way as the base game. Centaurs are stacked, wilds are common, and the shields are still in play. This means you can retrigger the bonus – even when the shields are only poking from the top and bottom of the reels.
Some of the line hits are large enough to be worth winning even without the multipliers. If you are lucky enough to get a 3x or bigger, this free spins bonus could become the stuff of (Greek) legends!
This slot has a choice of denomination – though the 50 win-lines can’t be adjusted. You can spin from just 50c per spin and up from there. The reels have the usual 5-reel by 4 rows grid. Most symbols require 3 from the left, though the top paying Centaur symbols generate wins with just 2.
Those Centaur symbols come in stacks on the reels. These are long, you’ll see them whizzing past when you spin. The dream scenario would be to cover all 5 reels with Centaurs, generating 50x top prizes.
Other symbols include the infamous bow and arrow which the mythical beast used. There are also lions, mythical winged lions and a harp. Smaller wins come via the standard playing card symbols – each a bold colour.
There are wild symbols in play. These are not stacked, and simply have the word ‘wild’ on them. They can connect wins on multiple win-lines, replacing everything except the shield bonus symbols.
You’ll see the impressive Centaur in a forest scene dominating the top section of the cabinet. This guy has the torso, arms and head of a man – along with the body and legs of a horse. A bow is strapped across his chest.
By contrast, the lower part of the cabinet is completely covered by the reels, with no additional decoration. You will see line markers on either side.
The animations and detailed design of the symbols makes up for this lack of background. Centaurs arrive on the reels as individual symbols. When they are involved in a win, any stacks will merge into one giant picture, turning to face you as they appear.
I was also impressed by the lion (the regular one, not the winged version!). This looks fierce enough when it is static – almost like it is running towards its prey. When it gets involved win a win, it roars in impressive style.
Sounds are generic, with electronic tunes playing, and only the odd sound effect fitting with the theme. When you get a big win, the reels will go dark, showing a shower of brightly coloured gems to go with your beeping tunes.
Only the red forest when the reels turn over between the main game and bonus game stand out as an extra. You’ll only have a second to glimpse this beautifully produced graphic.
Centaur is not the most complex slot in the WMS range – though it certainly holds its own in the Greek Myths space. Solid production and stacked symbols keep the base game enjoyable. It only has one feature, the free spins. If you are lucky enough to get both extra spins and a big multiplier, this bonus can be worth hitting.
