A Mexico Inspired Slot Produced by Konami and Bought Online by WMS
Unlike many of the other WMS slot games covered here at GambleOnline.co – this title was not produced by Williams Interactive. In live casinos, you will find Jumpin’ Jalapenos under the Konami banner. If you are playing it online, then it comes under the WMS list.
Jumpin’ Jalapenos is a Mexico-inspired game. It is a simple setup, with some excellent touches to the graphics.

To trigger the bonus spins, you’ll need to get 3 chilis on the reels. These jalapenos only appear on the middle 3 reels, and land with striking sound effects. When you get all 3, the background of the reels changes colour. This becomes blue, and you then click the spin button to start 12 free games.
At first sight, the free spins work exactly the same as the main games. You’ll see a big difference as soon as one or more wild symbols hits the reels. These now nudge, covering the entire reel with 3 symbols – which merge into one (and dance with some maracas).
The combination of super-stacked symbols and wild reels can make these free spins very profitable. Jalapenos are still in play. This means that you can retrigger the free spins for 12 more at any time.
This game uses a familiar setup. You have 30 win-lines, which are fixed (non-adjustable). Bets can be anything from 1c per line up to 10c per line – and are adjusted with a toggle saying, ‘bet per’.
There is a menu button on the bottom left. This brings up options to change the sound, go into ‘turbo’ mode, replay your last games, or show the pay-table and help. There is also an auto-play option, which lets you select up to 100 spins, and a bet max button.
Whenever you hit the spin button, one of the symbols (with the wild not included) is selected to be the ‘Super Stacked’ symbol. You’ll see a lot of whichever symbol it is on the reels. It is possible to cover all 5 reels completely with a single symbol – triggering 30x 5 of a kind prizes.
The single biggest prize comes from the wilds, which show a classic Mexican, complete with sombrero. 5 of these on a win-line gets you 500 coins, with the prizes going all the way down to 2 from the left. This guy substitutes for everything except the Jalapeno scatters, helping to create extra wins.
Standard prizes are led by the bull, worth 250 coins for 5 of a kind. Next comes a classic Mexican house, with a taco, guitar and cacti completing the unique symbols. Playing cards are used for the smaller prizes – when these are super stacked, those pay outs can still be worth hitting.
Overall, this is a clean and crisp design – without reaching the level of impressive. Around the reels you will see some palm trees, with a fountain hidden behind the spin button. The reels are white, helping the brightly coloured designs of the Mexican symbols stand out.
There are some animations while you play. Win with the wild Mexican guy symbol, and you’ll see him shake his head around, a Jalapeno pepper goes flying. When you get the nudging wilds in the bonus game, he dances – holding a pair of maracas!
Distinctive clicking and electronic beeps which are typical of Konami slots play while you spin. There are small electronic jingles for wins. Things get livelier in the bonus game. Here the background turns blue, and you get a cheerful tune playing while you spin.
This is a basic video slot, with a nicely produced Mexican theme and some clean graphics. It does not stand out on the casino floor, though for players that enjoy a solid base game + single feature setup, it is worth taking for a spin. The highlight is the free spins bonus. It is the combination of wilds which expand to cover entire reels, plus super-stacked symbols which give you the best big-win potential.
