In an expansion of the company’s successful mobile sports betting application, casino operator Boyd Gaming has partnered with digital media developer Miomni Gaming to launch Nevada’s first ever pari-mutuel horse race wagering app.
Previously, users of the sports betting app operated by Boyd Gaming – the Paradise, Nevada based national casino company which owns the Orleans and the Gold Coast properties in Las Vegas – could place sports betting wagers through their mobile devices. With the release of a new pari-mutuel horse racing function, bettors can now use the mobile app to place wagers on events held in tracks all across the country.
In a statement announcing the launch of the B Connected Sports & Race app, Bob Scucci, who serves as Director of Race and Sports for Boyd Gaming’s Nevada region, celebrated the historic nature of the release:
“This is a landmark moment for the industry, and for Boyd Gaming. Our customers have embraced the convenience and excitement of wagering on sports events on their mobile devices.
Today, we’re proud to be the first in Nevada to offer the same level of functionality and flexibility to horse bettors with the B Connected Sports & Race app.”
After signing up for a race book account at any of the seven Boyd Gaming venues in Nevada – Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast, Sam’s Town, California, Fremont, and Main Street Station – bettors physically located anywhere within the state’s borders can now place real-time wagers on horse races held in several prominent tracks nationwide.
The free to download app is available on both the iOS and Android operating systems.
Following a research and development phase which spanned more than a year, the U.K.-based Miomni Gaming was able to integrate the full functionality of a live race book within the simple interface of a smart phone app. Any of the bets available at a Boyd Gaming casino, both through the sports book and the race book, are instantly accessible through the app – including standard Win / Place / Show bets, and exotic wagers like exactas, trifectas and Daily Doubles.
Miomni Gaming CEO Mike Venner issued a statement praising his tech team’s ability to bring every possible bet and wager into the palm of a user’s hand.
“We are thrilled to provide the first mobile sports wagering app in Nevada to include pari-mutuel horse betting. Miomni’s technology will help introduce the sport of horse racing to an entire new generation of fans.”
Miomni Gaming also partnered with the Las Vegas Dissemination Company (LVDC), which acts as the exclusive pari-mutuel wagering service provider in Nevada, to expand the B Connected Sports & Race app’s coverage to include as many tracks as possible.
According to LVDC President Greg Wright, the organization’s objective is to bring pari-mutuel wagering to as many interested consumers as possible.
“LVDC is excited for bettors to be able to wager on their mobile phone. We are proud to team up with Miomni and the industry to expand and enhance pari-mutuel wagering.”
After a two-week trial run, Boyd Gaming also announced on August 18th that the next phase in the B Connected Sports & Race app’s development will be the integration of live video streaming and video replays to enhance the overall experience.
