However, the current owner of this honor is Joe Cada, who won the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event at age twenty-one. He surpassed Peter Eastgate for this crown, who had taken down the WSOP Main Event a year before at twenty-two, banking $9.1 million.

Online gambling went live in 1994. The first fully-functioning internet casinos hit the web in 1996, accepting real money bets, some even featuring video poker.

7. Johnny Moss Wins the Inaugural WSOP
Many fans claim that the Texas Gambling Reunion sparked the idea for creating the World Series of Poker. It was an invite-only tournament won by Crandell Addington, held in Reno at the Holiday Hotel and Casino.
The following year, the Binion’s Horseshoe Hall & Hotel acted as the stage for the first WSOP event that Jonny Moss won and thus became The World Poker Champion.
The event included poker variant cash games like the Deuce to Seven Low-Ball Draw, Razz, Five-Card Stud, Seven-Card Stud, and Texas Holdem, with rules similar to most Texas Holdem online options.
