McCaffrey Favorite for Rushing Yards

The NFL betting season continues to heat up as the Elite Eight enter the Divisional Round. While the Wild Card Round threw up some surprises for online sports betting fans, especially from the Jaguars, several star players are looking to make an impression on this weekend.

The San Francisco 49ers enter this weekend’s NFL Divisional Round on a league-best 11-game winning streak and are the favorites to win the NFC, even over the top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles. While rookie quarterback Brock Purdy has played a major role in that, there’s no chance the 49ers are in this position without their midseason trade for Pro Bowl running back Christian McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers.

College football betting fans know that McCaffrey is well known in the Bay Area from his time at Stanford. McCaffrey is currently the +350 favorite to lead all players in rushing yards in the four Divisional Round games and has been phenomenal since the trade.

His 49ers host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday evening. In just his second career playoff game last week, McCaffrey rushed for 119 yards in a fairly easy win over the Seattle Seahawks. That total was the most of any running back in the Wild Card round.

Seattle was one of the worst teams in the league during the regular season against the run, allowing 150.2 ypg. Dallas was somewhat better by surrendering 129.3 ypg. The Cowboys gave up only 52 yards rushing in their Wild Card win over Tampa, although the Bucs threw the ball 66 times.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ Miles Sanders (+450), New York Giants’ Saquon Barkley (+500), and Jacksonville Jaguars’ Travis Etienne (+600) round out the favorites on this NFL prop at the best online sportsbook sites.

The Eagles face the Giants on Saturday, and Sanders had one game of 144 yards against New York in the regular season and one with 33. Barkley faced the Eagles once and had 28 yards. Etienne and the Jaguars visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, and he had 45 yards in the regular-season matchup.

Will Josh Allen Lead in Passing Again?

The Wild Card leader in passing yards was Buffalo’s Josh Allen with 352, and he’s +400 to lead in this round along with Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow and behind Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes (+225).

Sunday will be the first-ever official meeting of Allen and Burrow as the Week 17 matchup between the Bills and Bengals was postponed and eventually canceled due to the Damar Hamlin situation. Mahomes led the NFL by far in the regular season with a career-high 5,290 yards through the air and finished with 329 in the first meeting vs. Jacksonville.

The long shot on the passing prop is the Giants’ Daniel Jones at +1,200 against Philadelphia as the Eagles were No. 1 against the pass in the regular season in allowing a scant 179.8 ypg. Jones threw for 169 in his lone regular-season meeting with Philly as he sat out Week 18 against the Eagles. The Niners’ Purdy is +750 on this prop as he looks to continue his historically shocking run of success as we head into Super Bowl betting season.

Chase Heats Up In Receiving Yards Race

Seattle’s DK Metcalf had the most receiving yards in the last round with 136, but his team was eliminated. So was NFL regular-season receiving yardage leader Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings. The favorites this round are the Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase (+550), Eagles’ AJ Brown (+600) and Bills’ Stefon Diggs (+600).

Brown was fourth in the regular season with a career-high 1,496 yards and had 95 and 70 in two games vs. New York.  Diggs was fifth with 1,429 yards and didn’t officially face Cincinnati. He had 114 yards last week against Miami. Chase didn’t face Buffalo and had 84 yards last weekend vs. Baltimore.
