WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship Match – Liv Morgan
Wrestler | Latest WWE Odds |
Liv Morgan (c) | +300 |
Ronda Rousey | -500 |
After winning the Smackdown Women’s Championship at Money in the Bank, Liv Morgan went on to successfully defend her title against Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam (albeit in controversial fashion). Rousey, legendary in the world of UFC betting, had several run-ins with management before winning a number one contender match to catapult the Baddest Woman on the Planet back into the title scene.
Fan favorite Morgan more than held her own against Shayna Baszler at Clash at the Castle. A close friend to Rousey, Baszler is a two-time former NXT Women’s Champion and enjoyed a successful MMA career. Despite her fearsome reputation, Morgan persevered and won convincingly. It was certainly telling, therefore, that Morgan didn’t cower in the face of Rousey’s return: instead she upped the ante and challenged her to an Extreme Rules match.
The bookies have Rousey as the overwhelming favorite at Extreme Rules. While I do have a bad feeling that time is running out for Morgan, there are suspicions of more going on. Could Shayna Baszler play an integral role in the match? Baszler has been confronting Rousey in recent weeks and might display some of her trademark aggression towards her friend. My heart is backing Liv Morgan, even though it logically seems that Rousey should win in Philadelphia.
Fight Pit Match – Matt Riddle
Wrestler | Latest WWE Odds |
Matt Riddle | -260 |
Seth Rollins | +180 |
Born in NXT during the dark days of the pandemic, the Fight Pit is a hybrid match which combines the brutality of MMA and pro wrestling. Matt Riddle is a pioneer of this match type, coming up short against Timothy Thatcher back in 2020. Riddle’s black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and his prowess in UFC, cut short due to his unabashed use of marijuana, makes him a fearsome competitor in Fight Pit.
Seth Rollins is certainly riding high after overcoming Riddle at Clash at the Castle, but I feel he’s bitten off more than he can chew by accepting this challenge. It’s difficult to argue against Rollins being one of the best professional wrestlers of his generation. He boasts a championship pedigree to which few can compare but he is, at heart, a professional wrestler. The Fight Pit is a hybrid of MMA and pro wrestling, which will suit a hybrid competitor like Matt Riddle.
The fans in attendance at Extreme Rules are in for a unique show, but WWE betting fans are in for something that is closer to what UFC betting fans are used to. For that reason, I have to back Matt Riddle to emerge from the Fight Pit victorious.
Strap Match – Karrion Kross
Wrestler | Latest WWE Odds |
Karrion Kross | -300 |
Drew McIntyre | +200 |
Since returning at the advent of Triple H’s reign in WWE, two-time former NXT Champion Karrion Kross has had Drew McIntyre squarely in his sights. Cast aside in the McMahon era, Kross has portrayed “The Chosen One” McIntyre as his main target en route to the Undisputed Championship.
Together with Scarlett, Kross has dominated McIntyre in recent weeks via sneak attacks and his lethal Kross Jacket submission. McIntyre challenged Kross to a strap match, in which both competitors are joined by a leather strap, as a way of keeping his enemy as close as possible. This match promises to be brutal and I believe that Kross has McIntyre’s number. Kross has the psychological edge in this feud and is a brutal competitor with a killer instinct that McIntyre may be underestimating.
